Howard Greenstein, Social Media Strategist and Evangelist and President, The Harbrooke Group. Harbrooke helps firms understand and adopt the technologies and practices that allow them to better communicate with their customers.
Howard's years of experience in the technology world, combined with his background as a coach helps him bridge the gap between business needs and technology requirements, allowing him to facilitate difficult business conversations and focus on the required results of any project. His interest is in the emerging area of Social Media, finding the ways in which blogs, podcasts, social networks, and other tools that allow for connection, collaboration and communications can be used for business. Formerly, Howard Co-Founded Social Media Club (http://www.socialmediaclub.com/ ). He has been the Senior Director of the Center for Management at the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at NYU, in charge of management-related non-credit programs including Coaching, Project Management, and Human Resources. Howard is a frequent speaker on technology and management issues, including 2006 appearances at Web 2.2 UnConference, The Association of Women in Communications of Westchester, The NY Software Industry Association, and MeshForum. Howard has been a digital media consultant and expert in cutting edge technology applications and solutions. He has had involvement in Streaming Media technologies and other rich media applications for over fifteen years. Howard got his first job using an interactive resume, and has been working with multimedia technology ever since. As a Technical Evangelist for Microsoft's Developer Relations team (1997-2000), he helped gain acceptance and adoption of Internet Explorer 4, Commerce, SiteServer, and Windows Media, and was Microsoft's product liaison to Time Warner, MTV, CBS, Bloomberg and ClearChannel. He was responsible for gathering product requirements and ensuring that customer needs translated into features in future releases. Howard is a member of the Board of Directors of the New York Software Industry Association. He has also served on the board of the New York New Media Association a 7,500-member organization devoted to the industry (now part of SIIA). He is a co-founder of the World Wide Web Artist's Consortium and has participated on the advisory boards of Working Today and Cocktails with Courtney. Howard has been featured in the New York Post, Daily News, New York Times, Fast Company, and the Silicon Alley Reporter. He was named one of the Daily News' 20 to watch in New Media in 1998, and one of the Silicon Alley 100. He was awarded his degree at the Masters of Interactive Telecommunication Program (ITP) at New York University and graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelors in Industrial and Labor Relations.
