Session: Publishing XML: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Business Process
Description
The X may indeed stand for Extensible, but that's not a synonym for Flexible; there are certain directions in which XML does not bend. Collaborative authoring, distributed reviewing, and multiple outputs are all just technology, and the technology is the easy part of setting up a successful XML publishing system. If the technology isn't deployed with an intimate understanding of the business processes that will access it, the good ship XML will cheerfully tear itself apart trying to go in multiple directions at once while users tear their hair out.
This presentation addresses the complexities of actually mating the publishing chain to the - often undocumented - business processes driving its requirements.
