Session: Streetwise: Access to information for everyone, everywhere
Description
Access to mobile telephony in under-served regions of the world is now widespread, yet access to the internet still remains shockingly low. Why? A range of socio-economic and infrastructure barriers have prevented PCs and internet content as we know it from really taking off in these areas.

Streetwise is a ground-breaking new product which revolves around the concept of lean content and services, delivered to lean terminals via any mobile network. Streetwise is designed to enable anyone, anywhere to access a wide range of powerful internet services. This session will include a presentation of the product, feedback from our pilot in local schools, and an opportunity to try Streetwise for yourself.

Streetwise has been developed by Psitek, South Africa's biggest developer of mobile devices. Psitek focusses on products for under-served communities across Africa, Asia and Latin America and is well known for it's innovative Jembi and Adondo supervised payphone products.
