Session: Millennium Village's Mobile Strategy for Health
Description
In January 2008 the Millennium Villages Project (MVP) instituted a Mobile Telephony Integration Strategy for Health as part of its partnership with Ericsson. This strategy aims to prioritize and guide programming that maximizes the benefits of improved telecommunications to support the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) for health. The Millennium Villages Project operates in fourteen village clusters throughout Africa at the community level, implementing research-based best practices in agriculture, health, water, gender equity, and education to achieve the UN Millennium Goals.
In partnership with Ericsson, Sony Ericsson, and local telecommunications operators, we will showcase how MVP is leveraging mobile phone technology to enhance the provision of local health care services.
