Session: Mobiles in Citizen Media: Compiling Apps and Best Practices
Description
This workshop reviews the current state of mobile applications and websites that facilitate the participation in online social media from the mobile phone. Topics will include emailing a post to a WordPress-based blog, using tools like Twitter as a broker of info between mobile phones and the Internet, Brightkite, Nokia's Lifeblog application, and others.

We will begin to compile a guide that explains how to use mobile phones to participate in social media to be published by MobileActive.org and Global Voices.

People driven news
Great session, good case studies. The question though would be how we educate our communities on what is news - local (gossip , villiage events etc), news - national - police brutality, natural disasters , political violence etc) Then HOW is that news marketed? Introduced to Brite Kite!, have tried and logged on...gr8.
