Linkages to Climate Change & Mobile Phone?

Yes, IDRC has a project in Ghana doing carbon sensoring with taxi drivers. The device is on their mobiles, it maps in the city the CO2 levels. The information can help to inform where policy interventions should take place by local government

IDRC is looking for projects in North Africa and Middle East in mobile-social change research. So far, the program officer has only seen one project here at Mobile Active (happens to be run by a Canadian)

IDRC Program Leader for Africa spoke about the UHIN and MHIN program use of mobile phones for health data collection and Continuing Medical Education with the phone.

On social advocacy with mobile phone, there is a project on using young women, mobile phones for communication and addressing Female Genital Mutilation issues in West Africa.

Q: is there a use of voice recording projects with IDRC? IDRC is interested. Uganda has an example of using the computer / CD Rom which talks to the adult women learners about business.
