Future of Web Apps (FOWA)

Note by Phil Wilson:
when do you fit in practise ? a musician does, so why not coders? where is the time to do something and throw it away? there's some natural talent, but that talent is about an ability to focus.

users, people, learning and growing with an activity that you provide the tool for. who cares about the tool itself?

1. what's the motivation behind the user using the tool?
2. make a tshirt. tshirts say something about the person using the tool.
3. the easter eggs grow association with a product, confidence. increase curiosity.
4.
5. have a philosophy that drives quality of experience and user expectation
6. sleep deprivation is the same as going to work drunk. physical exercise makes you cleverer. instrumenting your life.
7. focus on the bigger thing.
upgrading makes you suck at the tool again, but not upgrading lowers the passion over time.
best practices aren't motivating, patterns for achieving a certain activity are.
"if you want them to RTFM, write a better FM"
what is your role in your users' activity and product usage "journey"
wouldn't ever use the word "nurture", she didn't write the title.
"no dumb answers" is better than no dumb questions. training on how to deliver support, guidelines to make newbie answerers more welcome. we're used to the no dumb questions document for mailing lists etc.
