The financial services industry today is in transition. Securitised financing is beginning to replace traditional methods of raising finance. Like other major transformations, this one will take place over the years, not overnight. It is estimated that it will take 10 to 15 years for structured securitised financing to displace completely the classical lending system – a relatively short time indeed, considering that the fundamentals of banking have remained essentially unchanged for a significantly long period of time.

With the current economic resurgence of East Asia, more and more companies, financial institutions and governments are seeking securitisation as the answer to raising large amounts of funds for various purposes. This, in addition to the stringent rules of traditional bank lending, experts are optimistic that we can expect to see more securitisation deals being done, in these emerging markets, in the near future.
